Richards Horse Transportation places the highest priority on the safety and comfort of your horse. With this in mind we have outfitted this company with a top of the line motor truck and horse trailer for the purpose of transporting horses.

The Power Unit

Our motor truck is a Ford F450 flatbed with a GVWR of 15,000 lbs. This motor truck has been customized with additional safety features such as an additional GearVender® transmission for better power control of loaded trailers, a Lange® exhaust brake to assist in downhill braking, keeping the regular braking system from overheating, and an upgraded double GG rated truck tire, giving this motor truck a higher degree of safety.

The Horse Trailer

Our trailer is a top of the line EquiSpirit Safeload 3, three-horse gooseneck trailer. We use this trailer as we believe it is one of the safest trailers on the market today. This trailer has true warmblood size (7’8” height) and carries one horse in a slant load manner and two as straight loads. This trailer is one of the more flexible trailers on the market. Not only can we haul either in a slant load manner or straight load, but we can convert the trailer into a large stall to haul a mare/foal combination or injured horse.

Some of the more important safety and comfort assets of this trailer are:

• Heavy-gauge non-rusting galvanized steel frame and galvanized steel interior walls along with aircraft aluminum skin which sandwiches Styrofoam insulation between the walls.
• Side ramp entrance allowing access and removal of any horse without disturbing the other horses in the trailer.
• Video and temperature monitoring of horse area.
• Fans for each horse.
• Independent torsion suspension for a smoother ride.
• Roll bar tubular steel for the roof bracing.

All ancillary equipment used is of highest quality and chosen with the safety of your horse in mind. All equipment is inspected on a daily basis or between transportations.
